Canelo's promoter said they vacated the belt last year because they felt he wasn't ready for Golovkin.

A 70/30 split is what everyone wanted and team Oscar came up with this 10 millions then 15 millions flat fee public offer. You are a disgrace man.

    SEPTEMBER 2016:

De La Hoya: Flat Fee For Golovkin To Face Canelo - No Money Split!

    By Miguel Rivera

Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya has double-downed on the statements made to BoxingScene.com by his company Vice President, Eric Gomez.

Gomez advised BoxingScene's Steve Kim that his company would make a very handsome offer to Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs) to face Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (47-1-1, 33KOs) in September of 2017.

In other words, there will NOT be a monetary split - like, for example, the 60-40 split that favored Floyd Mayweather Jr. in last year's mega-fight with Manny Pacquiao. Golovkin will be offered a flat fee.

But somehow in your small brain this was Golovkin's fault.
Maxi, I try to be kind to you because you're not a very clever guy but when you become a little ankle biter, you have to be put in your place. 90% of what you just ranted about has nothing to do with what I said. I said that they compromised to get the fight, esp considering that Sanchez was initially barking about 50/50. That didn't last long and Loeffler admitted that they were willing to flex just to get the fight made.
"...there would be concessions on our side to make the fight. Just to get the fight." Tom L.
Now *** off you joke of a fanboy.

The primary reason was because his promoters didn't want their little callboy to have his vagina ruined before they got as much money as they could out of his sphincter before he got his **** pushed in by Golovkin.

Like others pointed out he would have taken it, but I don't think his handlers thought he was ready at the time, I wouldn't say risk/reward because the risk is still there now and the reward isn't that great to Canelo himself to be honst. Risk reward would be GGG swerving the Ward fight as an example.

Well Oscar already admitted in a interview GGG would have killed Canelo 2 years ago and he was protecting him.

Well if Golovkin is in his prime right now, which he is, was Canelo really ducking him?

            Not a Canelo fan btw

What's wrong with his last two fights?

He went back and forth with Jacobs who is a solid boxer and knocked out a good but undersized Kell Brook.
