Did we learn anything from Frank Bruno?
I would say h*ll yea for Ward to go up against Joshua. That would be sensational. Everyone is talking about how dangerous Joshua is because he's built like a brick ****house standing at 6'7. The man is essentially a body builder.
Bruno was 6'3 and about 245lbs. Joshua is pushing over 250 and just as cut. If I've seen anything in Joshua that I don't like, it's the vulnerability in how limited boxer stacked like that is. Were talking about a huge deficit in capability in punch output, speed, reflexes, endurance, balance, recovery when compared to Ward.
If Ward sticks and moves I think he loses by UD no doubt about it. But when I say stick and move I mean literally running similar to Lara against Canelo. No way the judges would give it to him.
However if Ward uses his quickness, reflexes and endurance etc etc, to basically move in and out letting lose (like Pac vs Oscar or Dempsey vs Willard) with as much as you can get away with on the way in.. I could see this fight get veryyyyy interesting where I'd side in his favor.
These lineman sized heavyweights kryptonite is a technically sound appropriately sized small man.
Sure he got KO'd but Moorer (natural light heavyweight)was winning by a landslide before that one shot.
Look I could rant all night. I just think Ward has a real shot against a still green fighter in Joshua. Joshua isn't some knockout artist like he's being made out to be. He's just a big mother****er fighting a bunch of slobs with no real excellence to their craft. Wlad is the real breakout win for him. But even with Wlad, Wlad's real expertise lacks foot coordination and speed to find a equally sized runner(Fury) or move defensively (at least consistently at this age) from a bigger badder boxer who wants to break him in half. So yea Joshua proved himself against what was thought to be a better boxer in Wlad. In closing, I think Ward's genius level ring IQ and heart could win this thing. Billy Conn, James Toney, Holyfield, Rocky Marciano, Joe Louis, Bob Fitzsimmons, Jack Dempsey, Michael Spinks, Michael Moorer, Floyd Patterson, and the list goes on. All guys who had walked around under 200 and jumped up to heavyweightComment
