I'm a big Cotto fan but I don't think Floyd ducked Cotto more so than not wanting to deal with Top Rank. The fact that Pacquiao was the only Top Rank (contracted) fighter Floyd fought since he departed Top Rank himself should say something. Floyd did what I felt back in 2008 he was going to do, let Margarito & Cotto fight and he'll eventually fight one of them. Mosley became the dark horse and that's ultimately who Floyd ended up fighting. Now, in hindsight people will say "Mosley was old, etc" BUT I recall VIVIDLY people saying Mosley was Floyd's toughest fight, he was going to fight a REAL Welter with power, speed, etc.

I can appreciate that view and yes, Cotto's peak was 2006-2008 so no arguments there.

I would just add that Floyd was older too and that makes a difference, even if he didn't go through wars like the other guys because you don't get better from inactivity in your 30's.

Well that wasn't exactly the case, a boxers prime is at the age of around 30 cause he has both the experience and strength he would not have if he either was older or younger. Not to mention that Cotto was a nr.1 ranked fighter aswell by the time Floyd beat him.

Floyd ducked Cotto. The official Floyd Boy excuse was Floyd was on vacation because his hands was hurting from those two grueling back to back fights one year apart, with Oscar and Hatton.

Its ok though the Floyd Boys give Floyd full credit for beating a shopworn Cotto.

Y'all really need to let this go.. Floyds been retired for almost 10 years now. Dissing a retired fighter doesn't have the same meaning as when that fighter was active.

Cotton ducked first so it evens itself out.

Mayweather had just gone through an ugly court battle with Bob Arum. Arum didn’t want to make Mayweather vs DLH because Arum and DLH weren’t doing business. So Mayweather bought out his contract to fight DLH.

Mosley wouldn’t fight Mayweather because of the same thing. Mosley was with GBP, so he rejected Mayweather twice, while Mayweather was in TR.

I say all this because Mayweather vs Cotto, Margarito, or Pacquiao didn’t happen/didn’t happen sooner because Mayweather was yet another former Top Rank fighter who didn’t do business with Arum.

                    It’s that simple.
