    Boxers with blood-borne diseases

Tommy Morrison is the obvious example - HIV+.
It has been said that Ruslan Chagaev has hepatitis b I believe?

Are there any other examples of boxers with blood-borne diseases?

I was about to say Poonsawat, but I just double-checked on Google and it turns out that the HIV rumours were false and he had something else called thalassemia. Such a shame because his slated fight against Rigondeaux would have been really interesting, and would've made Rigo's resume a bit deeper if he had won

If it really is thalasaemia then he should have been allowed to fight, because that is not a contagious disease.

They all knew Morrison had HIV but then he went on AZT or whatever its called and then its not detectable in blood tests, so they claimed the original test was wrong. Shame on the commissions for allowing him to fight.

Did they reject him because they thought it was contagious or did they reject him because youre supposed to be healthy to fight? I mean yeah they will medically clear almost anyone to fight but theyre not supposed to.

I literally have no idea. But considering he boxed for quite some time he must have had the minor type of the disease which isn't so bad.
