Linares was the WBC champ but got hurt and couldn't fight his Mando Zlantitian. So he was given the diamond belt while Zlantitian fought for the vacant WBC title, he won it then lost it to Mikey.... its confusing but that's the story and the WBC is trying to force Linares vs Mikey to unify the straps.
