Boxing pressers are like the weirdest thing ever like 95% of the time. I mean just go watch that BJS vs Monroe presser the other day that was MASSIVELY fun for a boxing presser vs the typical boxing presser you'll watch cuz BJS is a guy who'll actually engage his opponent & is clever about it + gots a real feel for the mental game that most fighters just don't have verbally.

So you need a non-fighter rep to have that job of leading the festivities better & its not the f#cking promoter that's for f#cking sure cuz most of these promoters suck at their job with public stuff (behind the scenes stuff they might be great & probably are great to be where they are + getting talked about). Hire a guy like DiBella to do all the talking. He is the Dana White after all with his no f#cks given leaning most of the time & have him talk at all the PBC events for example. Let Bhop talk & control all the pressers for GBP cuz Oscar is boring as sh^t. Hire a comedian or some Chris Hardwick type guy or something, but pressers SHOULD have faces to them & SHOULD feel more familiar & less awkward then they do.
Great post. Espinoza is right about Dana hogging all the limelight in UFC press conferences but at the same time he controls them better than any of his fighters could so it is what it is. And hats off with the DiBella comparison, he's the closest thing boxing has to a Dana White, very funny guy who gives no f"cks whatsoever. As much as a lot of people dislike Dana (and a lot of times quite rightly) he has done a ton to build the UFC to where it is. Made the best fight the best.

Richard Schaefer was actually pretty good at handling press conferences but we know what happened there. Oscar for some reason decided he would rather work with The Bobfather instead They should just keep Oscar away from talking period nowadays. Every time he says something it's something foolish.

Exactly, this Weasel should take advice from Dana and the UFC. Boxing press conferences are out dated and boring.

Ufc press conferences actually include the fans and the media and are much more exciting.

Very true. Boxing pressers are boring with a bunch of nobodies talking for 80% of the time and the boxers just quickly thanking people. All followed by an uninterested stare down.

              Espinoza hating on Dana. Jealousy.

How can he say this :
"From our perspective, the way he runs press conferences de-emphasizes the fighter, and it emphasizes Dana,"
When all Dana did is introduce McGregor .

It was Espinoza who wanted some TV time.

              Boxing promotion is terrible

Ufc marketing and promotion has been unbelievable . look how strong the brand is.

Meanwhile, showtimes plan of raising fighter profiles by having haymon showcase fighters on network tv didn't pan out like they expected.

You heard that Dana? If you don't like it oh well lol. Espinoza finally put the attention whore in his place. Keep crying about that one little microphone incident. Matter of fact that's all they've done since the fight was signed. Keep on crying about the gloves, rules, and the microphone. Did Floyd even have a microphone while McGregor was talking?

Their brand isnt strong they were nearly bankrupt before they sold the company. Espinoza just keeping it real Dana is an attention whre who makes more money than the fighters. Showtime and Haymon compensate their fighters fairly. Why you think that BUM McGregor getting his highest pay day?
