Dangerous junior lightweight prospect Alberto 'El Explosivo' Machado has a way to go before aiming for a world title, but to date the young Puerto Rican has left a significant impression during his stay in Los Angeles, California. Machado (17-0, 15 KO's) is taking advantage of the opportunity to train alongside Miguel Cotto at the Wild Card Gym, owned by Freddie Roach. The 26-year-old will face Mexican Carlos Morales (16-1-3, 6 KO's) at the event being staged by Miguel Cotto Promotions at the Ponce Feria Complex on August 18.

Great experience for Alberto Machado to train with Roach and Gavin McMillan.

I want to see how the kid improves. He may become a major player in the 130lb division soon.

The kid has a hell of punch, that's for sure. I've seen him sleep dudes with just one shot and that was all she wrote.

Very interested to see how this kid progresses.

I think that Roach has calmed down though with the talking, probably because of age and his parkinson's might be getting worse.

Roach should probably retire soon and start to hand over the reigns to his understudy Somodio. I think Somodio will do better with Machado.

Somodio is actually going to be the trainer in Machado's corner for the fight August 18th. Roach is staying behind with Cotto.
