Lol, dude he's coming off a 21 month layoff, 36 years old going on 37 years and coming off a loss. I didn't expect his first fight back to be against an elite fighter. It's a tune up showcase to get the rust off and get back into the swing of things. He's going to fight a big name after the Kamegai fight on PPV, we have to see who it is.

Kamegai is actually at the peak of his career right now. He's coming off the best stretch of his career and knocked out Jesus Soto-Karass in his last fight. The same Soto-Karass that knocked out Andre Berto. At least Kamegai is at his peak in his career right now instead of coming off losses like Rios and Kirkland.

Cotto-Kamegai is not a big fight for sure. Pacquiao vs Horn wasn't either. Lol, if anything Pacquiao-Horn taught me to not judge too quickly. **** maybe both the Mayweather-Mcgregor and Cotto-Kamegai fights might turn into more than we thought. Mayweather, Pacquiao and Cotto are not going to be fighting much longer, they will be retiring soon. I'm just trying to enjoy their last times we see them in the ring. Because before you know, all 3 will be retired.

I'll watch both fights on August 26th. I'm sure I'll be entertained one way or another. Lol

Lampley makes fair points but comes off like a lot of people on this forum-upset because they see Floyd getting paid immensely for a fight other pro fighters wouldn't.

I feel he has lost the right to criticize this event because he has been the primary voice for his network trumpeting "entertainment" instead of skill for the better part of 3 years.

He has been overly critical of guys like Floyd and Rigo for being technical and boring. He has justified his network putting on gross mismatches like GGG/Brook and Canelo/Khan. He has justified his network recycling guys like Rosado and Kirkland knowing they had no chance.

Lampley is critical now that Floyd has taken HBO's blueprint to the extreme to make an obscene amount of money.

Sorry Jim but you can't claim the moral high ground when you opened Pandora's box.

Just look at his last fight how does the #1 p4p end up fighting berto?? He's a cherry picker but this is something you gotta see live it's a cherry pick with meaning towards how casuals look at boxing.
I'm curious who is your favorite fighter? I guarantee that his resume could be picked apart and show how much more of a cherry picker he was.

I will be watching Cotton vs Kamegai though. The only thing that interests me about this circus is trying to pick the brain & understand those that find this entertaining. I do the same thing sometimes with the flat earth society. I cant fathom how theres people who seem otherwise sane, but BELIEVE in outright insane things like the earth being flat or this fight being entertaining.
Everyone knows the outcome of Cotto & kamegai & everyone knows the outcome of Floyd & Conor so which do you really think is more ENTERTAINING?

This is exactly how I feel about it! They pushed the "entertainment over competition" mantra for years (Remember all the Pacquiao mismatches he waved the pom-pom's for?? **** **** **** ). Lampley was actually a really good commentator about 10 years ago. I don't know what's happened since, he just seems like a puppet who pushes whatever agenda he is told to push. I really can't listen to him anymore because of it. Not only that but his brain seems to be just as fried as Lederman's. So many contradictions, so many double standards.

So it's okay for GGG to fight a WW and blown up JMW's, and it's okay for Manny to fight people who had just been dominated and KO'd. But when Floyd fights people who are looking better than they've ever looked he comes out crying like it's so horribly wrong. His bosses are bitter that Floyd's not with their company anymore and are using him as a puppet to show this, either that or he's a silly troll.
