Barrera was a tough fight for Ward if you know boxing

Ward was breathing really, I mean really hard in the late rounds and Virgil was trying to keep him on track as Barrera was strong and was landing a good jab. Did Ward beat him, yes he did but most of the rounds he won, he didn't dominate, the rounds he won except for the knockdown round was by the skin of the teeth.

Just re-watch the fight and look at Ward's body language in the late rounds and his facial expressions in b/w rounds. He was very uncomfortable. That was a great fight for him in order to prepare for Kovalev.

Barrera is good, maybe great fighter! That's what's impressive about Ward. I still think Ward has another gear, which we may never see within him.

Yeah, but It was clear Ward. Barrera was just not on Ward's level. It is interesting how Barrera would be against Kovalev. But it seems unlikely since he is going to Cruiserweight.

Towards the end Barrera was having greater success. Ward was never in any danger but the late surge by Barrera made him have to work harder than expected in the later rounds. Ward's stamina isn't that great believe or not. He's just better at dealing with fatigue than a lesser fighter

Why didn't Barrera fight Beterbiev if he's such a formidable talent?
