Good for him i say. I don't begrudge any hard working guy his success. It's only people that don't succeed in life that have bitterness towards guys like Joe Smith Jr. for having theirs.

Sounds to me like the TS is a little insecure with his own life if he's hating on a guy for finding success and being an overachiever. Either that or he's just a plain racist who doesn't like whitey.

Smith is a decent fighter. He had a better win against Hopkins than Kovalev and Dawson. He can punch and he mounted a good enough offense to make Bernard Hopkins look really old. He's the first to make him look that bad.

With that being said, he does have that Kelly Pavlik vibe about him. He doesn't seem to have the team around him to help him further his career.

im bias because we're in the same union....but still, it's a great story of the simple man rising up through the ranks of boxing.

I'm rooting for him but IMO this was a high risk/medium reward fight....I feel like he should have been patient and tried making a fight with Adonis work...but what do I know? Team smith must be confident-and if he knocks Barrera out then his next fight is gonna be huge.

I'm skeptical but 100% rooting for joe....get em 66
