Yep thats how you should do ALL boxing fights. Unless your loaded with cash, the idea of dropping $70-$100 for a few hours of TV content yourself is pretty ******ed. People ***** about their cable bills as it is.

I think most people who buy this fight are buying it to see what happens not who wins. This is WrestleMania or the Superbowl, this isn't Bowe vs Holyfield I.

This is an event fight that goes beyond boxing like all the biggest fights in boxing have done. That being the case most people buying this fight (I'd estimate 80%+ of the final PPV purchasers & probably 90%+ of all the people who actually watch this fight) we'd be complimenting them if we called them casual boxing fans in much the same way hardcore NFL fans probably look at all the dummies who hadn't watched a NFL game all year that'll watch the Superbowl like they got a clue about it or whats going to happen.

            1. If Mayweather goes the distance with McGregor and beats him, people will accuse Floyd of carrying Conor and purposely not showing up.
            2. If McGregor gets a decision over 12 people will blame Floyd's age.
            3. If Mayweather knocks McGregor out people will say, "well of course, he's an MMA fighter, boxing is a different sport, he's never had a fight/Conor has a glass jaw"
            4. If McGregor knocks out Mayweather people will say "well of course, we told you Floyd is too small and Conor's too big"
            5. If it goes to a draw or a no contest, people will accuse either judges or Floyd of rigging the fight to trigger fans into demanding a rematch (despite no rematch clause) to get paid more money
            6. If the ref stops McGregor people will whine about early stoppage and not letting Conor get a chance to recover, or worse, unpunished fouls from Floyd
            7. If the ref stops Floyd they'll accuse Floyd of throwing the fight to get a rematch and get paid more money
            8. If McGregor quits including his corner stopping it or staying down after a KD ala Victor Ortiz, they'll accuse Conor of essentially getting paid to throw the fight ala Charles Martin (the most likely scenario and my prediction)

Floyd won't get credit for winning even if he does show up in Gatti form. McGregor might or might not get credit for winning. Neither will come out superior all said and done. Which is why I felt Conor should have faced someone like Chris Algieri first to help sell the story.

There's simply no upside. There will be some sort of excuse or complaint no matter WHO wins or how they win.
Respect on the effort here, but lets cut the bs. We've all probably seen f#cking Butterbean fights ffs. Girl fights that go the distance 90% of the time lol. Its not like boxing doesn't have a rich history of circus events among the boxing. I'm going to watch this fight cuz I'm a boxing fan. It doesn't get more complicated then that for me.

              Here's the difference, right...

Butterbean. The only fight of his I've ever watched was Brawl For All against Bart Gunn, simply because I wanted to see Gunn get KTFO.

I did NOT watch Ali/Inoki until years later when I got partially curious.

I did NOT watch Toney/Couture until years later when I was catching up on Toney fight videos.

I did NOT watch Foreman against 5 dudes until years later when he was retiring.

I used to love female boxing and still love female MMA fighting - why? They go at it 99% of the time. Very rarely do you see chess matches with the females.

However, I DID watch fights like...say...Ali/Holmes. A complete mismatch if there ever was one. But you're talking about the last fight of an absolute legend of the past vs. one of the best to lace them up.

I DID watch Chris Eubank vs. Joe Calzaghe. Yes, Eubank was well past the sell date, but again, you had an absolute legend of the past with the greatest entrance music to this day, vs. a guy who would beat some of the best ever.

I DID watch Cotto/Martinez. Yes, Martinez was a broken shell of his former self, but this is a guy who had arguably the highlight knockout of the decade, quality, absolute dominance and brilliance, going up against a guy who would eventually go on to be a Hall of Famer himself. A mismatch? Sure, but still absolutely quality guys in that ring.

I seriously hope you're not trying to say that this fight is anywhere in the class of service compared to the other sideshows we've seen. At least there it was like, quality fighter of the past vs. quality fighter of the present/future.

This fight? Come on bro, EVEN SAID LAWAL had a decent record when he got completely embarrassed with three punches. McGregor brings nothing to the table but mouth and you know it.

I'm not saying I don't understand the difference between other or lesser circus fights. I'm just saying understand the lane we are residing in via boxing.

This is a asses in seats/PPV buys sport. Thats going to lend its self to circus type sh^t like it or not. And as a boxing fan I watch boxing. You can feel like you feel about this specific fight, but be under no illusion that you haven't watched circus fights before & likely will again regardless of the quality of circus fight in your opinion.

And who really cares if you or I or anyone else watches past, current or future circus fights? Til the sport changes to a more respectable version of an elite athlete league this will continue well into the future. This sport is setup for circus fights.

Probably not, tbh. Looping in the Showtime feed off of some scratchy re-air from Brazil, maybe. lol

I watch fights when there's a point, and when the only excuses I should end up with are just people who grasp at straws.

I would rather Floyd embarrass Jeff Horn for 50-0 JUST BECAUSE he's fresh off beating Manny, than to see him face a guy who doesn't belong in the ring. Or beat Spence and take his belt, then vacate and retire, just to stop Spence's motivation. Or beat Thurman, take all his belts and vacate. Something that solidifies Floyd as still TBE.
