I don't jump on all of the threads about Mayweather, but it's not my fault there are so many of them on here either ripping him or praising him. If you got rid of all of the Mayweather, Pac, GGG, Ward/Kov threads, there would be nothing to talk about around here. I notice you are quick to jump to his defense every chance you get. The funny thing is, Floyd basically admits he plays the role and it's a persona and people still don't want to see it. He literally said last night in the interview "i'm just giving the fans what they want to hear".

The oldest scripts in literature stories, movies etc.is essentially involving heroes and villains and it's continued right up to the present day. Go watch any action movie at a cinema today and that will be the format. It sells and the reason the likes of McGregor and Floyd get so much attention is simply because they capitalise on it. It gets the audience emotionally invested in the fight by either hatred or willing a fighter to win.

I'm sure they don't think about it that in depth from a historical standpoint but they say certain things and act a certain way and see the attention it gets, so they just run with it.

There's a reason this fight is so huge, it's not because of what happens in the fight, it's because of their public persona. It's the only reason the fight is happening in the first place. It's not real. It's show business and entertainment and it baffles me how people can't see it.

I liked Floyd in that interview yesterday.

The Floyd that Brian Kenny interviewed on Friday Night Fights almost 10 years ago is the Floyd that I dislike. I also don't understand why Floyd has such a chip on his shoulder when it comes to Oscar DeLahoya. There's no need to continue being an @ss after all these years. But, yeah, when Floyd is rational he can come across as a decent guy. Similar to Mike Tyson in that way. Sometimes they fly off the handle and lose control but when they're feeling good they're very likable.
