  • Comments Thread For: Robert Guerrero: Figueroa Very Tough, Lots of Flaws in His Style

Robert Guerrero expects a long, challenging night when he meets Omar Figueroa on Saturday. The relentless, rough Figueroa figures to be in Guerrero's face from the moment the opening bell rings at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Though respectful, the 34-year-old Guerrero sees plenty of holes in Figueroa's game, particularly defensively, that give the former four-division champion confidence that he'll win their 10-round welterweight fight in Uniondale, New York.

Robert Guerrero will need to win this by KO or TKO. Figeroa is in line to be fed to Spence if he wins so I dont think Guerrero stands a chance with the judges.

"The 27-year-old Figueroa (26-0-1, 18 KOs) has beaten aging ex-champions Ricky Burns and Antonio DeMarco in his last two bouts, but Guerrero (33-5-1, 18 KOs, 2 NC) believes his mental strength sets the veteran southpaw apart from many of the fighters Figueroa has worn down during his career."

Omar beat Ricky Burns in 2015. He wasn't an aging ex-champion then. Why throw shade? Just this year Ricky Burns was one of the most sought out opponents. As Keith Idec said himself:

        April 15, 2017:

There wasn’t much demand for a rematch once Terence Crawford defeated Ricky Burns three years ago.

Crawford won the WBO world lightweight title in convincing fashion from Burns in Glasgow, Scotland, and the scorecards reflected the thorough nature of Crawford’s victory (117-111, 116-112, 116-112). If Burns beats Julius Indongo on Saturday, however, a Crawford-Burns rematch would become an important option for Crawford because it would represent an opportunity to become boxing’s undisputed 140-pound champion.

Crawford owns the WBC and WBO super lightweight titles. The winner between Burns and Indongo will leave the ring Saturday in Glasgow with the IBF, IBO and WBA championships.

I like Omar, and the Burns win was a good one

Robert, you will be more than willing to fight Omar's style. These two will be chest to shoulder all night.

Because Bob Arum rarely does business with anyone else. Why pay someone else when you can just take at LEAST 25% from BOTH your fighters...Double dip Bob
