Floyd may be strapped for cash but hes far from broke. Floyd stated awhile back that he gets his money paid out in monthly sums. He has money coming to him he hasnt seen yet from fights years ago. Floyd will be getting a check every month for another 30 years or so.

There are alot of dumb athletes. And some who are "broke" relative to who they are but they are far from broke. Iverson for example. The perception is he was "broke". So hes over in China or wherever playing for peanuts compared to what he made. But hes really just cash strapped. Ive heard he has something like 50 mil in an account he cant touch till hes like 50 or 55.

There are tons that are dumb and have squandered a fortune. But I think people overreact to a piece of news. Floyd gets a check every month. Guy probably hasnt even seen a cent from the Pac fight yet.

He is not dumb just uneducated and people take advantage of people like him all the time. He flies a private jet around and has a lot of people living off him. He went broke before each fight in his prime and hasn't fought in 2 years. He's had money going out with not much coming in. I worked as financial advisor for a few years and we saw a lot of people like Floyd that burned through big dollars, even millions. It seems like it will always be there but his lifestyle doesn't lend itself to long term wealth accumulation.

I think that lavish lifestyle is all for show. Mayweather may seem like that type that will go broke as soon as his career is over but he took careful steps to be able the generate the kind of wealth he has accumulated. I don't see him going from the mindset of crafting a strategy to maximize his earning potential and then turn around and waste it away like an idiot. Mayweather likes to play the "Money" character but I believe he's a lot wiser with his money than people will give him credit.
