Last I heard, Cleverly was going to face Badou Jack next!

      June 7, 2017:

Hearn wants to make the deal happen and wants to make it happen sooner than later, because Cleverly has been inactive for some time and pushing every day to return to the ring.

"It's certainly a fight that Nathan Cleverly and Badou Jack want," Hearn told Sky Sports. "Nathan Cleverly has been plaguing me for that fight for a long time.

"It's been a bit of a frustrating period, because we had the [Juergen] Braehmer rematch and that was pulled, so we've been waiting. We've got to get a move on. He hasn't boxed since October last year. He is prepared to wait, however, for Badou Jack, but it won't be long. We'll have a mandatory put on us again there, so we have to get a date this week I believe for the Badou Jack fight."

Eddie Hearn, promoter of WBA "regular" light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly (30-3, 16 KOs), is trying to finalize a deal that would see his boxer face former WBC super middleweight champion Badou Jack (21-1-2, 12 KOs). Cleverly has been out of the ring since capturing the title with a technical decision win over Juergen Braehmer in October of 2016. A rematch was going to take place, but it never came together for one reason or another.

Bivol-Ward would obviously be a very nice fight. One of the best matchups involving Ward that is there to be had in the light heavyweight division. I doubt Ward would fight him, I think he only fought Kovalev for the money and the belts and Bivol has neither, but whatever, I'm not going to waste time hoping for Ward to change his ways, but if it happens it would be cool.

As for Bivol, he has better speed and combinations than Kovalev, and good power, but his power is nowhere near Kovalev's level, and I don't think his reach is either. He won't be as good outside but maybe that will help him inside? Bivol doesn't have Kovalev's jab either, but they're just different fighters. Bivol looks ready for the top level though so I hope we see him get a big fight next, he looks ready for sure.

Yeah, and if that doesn't happen he also has a potential British headliner against Buglioni on the table. It would be a good fight for Bivol but I doubt it happens. And I think it would be premature to face Badou Jack right now

In lieu of Cleverly, fringe contenders like Mikhalkin or Boesel would be good step-up fights for him next

All he really said was that he wasn't a fan of Ward's style, which is a fair opinion and one shared by many

He said he was ready for the fight as yet but would not turn it down.

He gave his honest opinion on things.

Needs another year or so and 5 more fights.

The light-heavyweight division is where is it at the moment.

Wards is probably looking to cash out, maybe got 3-4 fights left in him.
