Because when Ward was at 168, Golovkin went on TV, talking that "164lb 50/50" bull**** after being more than happy to fight Froch, ChavezJr and others at 168lbs.

Once Ward set his mind on moving up to 175lbs and filling in, Ward made it abundantly clear that he didn't see any sense in tearing back down his body.

Beyond that, drawing 80k people, and selling 80k tickets are two entirely different things.

And it wasn't even 168 for froch...it was 166 according to Carl. Chavez is the only one that was offered 168 that I know of.
