  • For all those ppl comparing Ward and GGG attendance, please don't forget that Chocolatito has been the co main event, I believe for 4 of his last 5 fights. I'm pretty sure it helps selling out arenas when your ticket prices are low and are sharing the card with the P4P champion Chocolatito.

Andre Ward will only be returning to Las Vegas for the likely Adonis Stevenson fight or the possible Tony Bellew fight, and that's fine.

Any other fight that can be made for Ward (Cleverly-Jack winner, likely Beterbiev mandatory, Joe Smith Jr, etc) will be held at Oracle or Barclays, at regular big-event prices ($2m-$4m gates are possible), with a PPV baseline of $4m in net revenue (Ward's TV situation is unclear, but a move to Showtime/CBS likely puts enough money onto the table to not force PPV)

Andre's likely never going to be a Floyd-type draw, but finishing up as a Roy-level draw isn't bad, imo

That Ward-Bellew fight is picking up steam. That would be a good money fight for Ward. But he would have to fight in England to maximize money for that fight. But that would probably be his biggest money fight that he has a chance of winning. They can fight in Las Vegas but no one knows who Tony Bellew is in the U.S., so to make the most money on PPV, etc...Eddie Hearn can hook Ward up with big money if Ward fights Bellew in England.

Fighting at Heavyweight he would get even more money, but his chances of winning are extremely low and him getting blasted out of there is a very high outcome.

Stevenson and Bellew should be his immediate targets for the money he's searching for. Particularly Bellew.

GGG ticket prices have been reasonable in the past but they have never been low. His last fight was very expensive. And nobody really knew who Chocolatito was for the first couple of their pairings.

There is no comparison between Ward and GGG attendance simply because Ward is not a draw. Even in his home city he isn't selling out an arena. GGG sells out arenas thousands of miles from his hometown.

Here's an article on it. Actually Cotto signed for $55 million including the $5 million dollar signing bonus to the $50 million.

It states that Cotto with the contract would earn between $15 to 17 million per fight for 3 fights, comes out close or equal to $50 million total.

Great on Cotto for taking that deal and taking advantage. On the otherhand RNS overpaying their stars.
There's no mention of the joint concert promotion in the boxingvoice article, do it'd seem like they editorialized on partial information

            • You give people a great fight between two of the best in the world and they're not intetested.

And people still complain that a circus attraction like Floyd-McGregor is happening....

That's what Iole quoted, citing information asked for from the Nevada Commission. I don't fathom a reason why Nevada would like about that.

RocNation priced the fight too aggressively, in hindsight, but you have to know where your fighter stands.

Ward-Stevenson and Ward-Bellew are fights basically destined for Las Vegas, and both showdowns will likely be priced the exact same way (Kovalev basically proved himself to be a non-draw; GYM and Stevenson will bring high-end money with them from Montreal, and the UK will travel in strong numbers for one of their own stars).

Outside of those two fights, expect Andre Ward to stick to fighting in Oakland or at Barclays Center (keeping to the same price points that he's been keeping things at since he returned with the Paul Smith fight, $400-$40 with the upper bowl at $20/$25, until he's trending towards selling out the full building).

Some folks will laugh, but Ward-Bellew is a PPV fight in the US; "real life Rocky story" (Creed did beyond well in the US), Ward as the best fighter in the sport and can talk, Bellew being a larger-than-life personality who can talk **** with the best of them (and actually fight), Hollywood (and Black Hollywood) coming out to support, UK stars coming over for the spectacle, etc.

You add that the fight can basically be sold at three times the Box Office price in UK, and I don't see Bellew generating the kind of heat in the UK to top what it can do in Las Vegas, especially if Bellew comes out here and destroys the press events with top-notch banter.
