Lomachenko is one of my favorite fighters right now, but he needs to start being consistent with fighting elite level opposition... at least fight the mainstream known names...

Why Marriaga? He's WBO #10 ranked Super Featherweight fighter! Where's Cuellar? He's ranked #2 by the WBA @ 130! Why not him? Oh well, it's on ESPN, so that's a good look!

cbs but cbs didnt pay the fighters! Pbc did! Arum can afford to pay loma and valdez because espn is paying the fighters in this deal and they make money from ticketsales, sponsorships and international tv money..... So come back with a better excuse for homachenko... First he fights a pizza maker then a journey man! Yawnnnn

            CBS or Showtime ?

It doesn't bother me how much he makes or who he fights,it's free ! Why do I need an excuse ? I'm not the sensitive one. The big fights will come in the mean time he's staying active and earning, he's a prizefighter. .

both were on cbs! They just used showtime production which is smart! Anywhy why does that even matter? Valdez vs lomachenko should be happening! Why is lomachenko fighting walters and valdez leftovers? Majes no sense! But oh well

Regardless, this is more of an exhibition anyway, a fight designed to make Lomachenko look good to terrestrial television, a wider audience to build up yet more hype for an already impressive career.
Thats my point, Lom is past exhibitions and should be fighting a fighter who is not the leftover of a 126 pound champ.

One of the "pound for pound best" fighting the leftovers of current champs is only ok when Lomachenko does it. Lord knows what would happen if anyone else not under the Top Rank banner did this. Thread would be filled with 10-15 of the daily trolls already.

I honestly do not see a problem with this fight since it is his first fight on ESPN. Bob wants him to look good to a bigger audience which is ok as well. His next fight better be vs someone in the top 3 though.

Exactly. Some PFP fighters would have pages and pages of outcries if they fought a recent leftover from a champ from a lower division.

What happens when Loma does a better job on Marriaga and their is a serious clamour from the Valdez fan base for him to face Loma setting up the fight on an even bigger scale and drawling more attention.

You guys are pathetic, do you ever consider their may be an actual reason they chose Marriaga ?
