Comments Thread For: UK Boxing: Daniel Dubois, Sam McNess, Richard Thomas

Teen Heavyweight sensation Daniel Dubois will fight for his first professional title in only his fourth fight when he takes on Mexico's Julian Fernandez for the Vacant WBC World Youth Heavyweight strap at the Copper Box Arena on Saturday 8th July, live on BT Sport and BoxNation. Dubois made a sensational start to his professional career by demolishing Marcus Kelly in just 35 seconds at the Manchester Arena. The Pea**** Gym giant then blasted out former Olympian and Commonwealth Games Bronze Medallist Blaise Mendouo at the Leicester Arena before racking up another devastating first round KO against Dave Howe at the Copper Box Arena.

I like this guy, but why's he not taking the more traditional Area, English, British, Commonwealth & EBU route like real British legends do? A few fights abroad wouldn't do him any harm either?

I'm sure the titles you listed are on the radar. The WBC youth belt puts him on the map & would probably get him into the WBC top 40. Not bad for having 3 fights. I believe he will look at the UK domestic titles like the British & Commonwealth belts down the road.

You need to be 21 to fight for the British title and he's only 19 at the moment. I think by the time he's 21 he may have surpassed British level
