if it's compatible with both, it doesn't matter if you you use + or -. Just finalize the DVD when you're through recording and it will play on any DVD player.Originally posted by raesaadTry a -R DVD.Some platyers do not work with +R.I have a Sony DVD recorder and it works with both but I use a -R so the copies will play on most DVD players rather than just +R compatible ones.Comment

If your DVD/R is +/- R compatible, you may need to format the disk prior to recording. Most disks come pre-formatted, but cheapies are sometimes problematic like that.Originally posted by waldorfI just bought a DVD recorder DVR 1600 at kmart. Actually, all DVD recorders manufactured for sale in the US in the past few years have copyright protection built into them. You cannot use them to reord any copyrighted DVDs or programs from digital cable that have blocks put on them. I'm not sure if you can get by this on non-digital cable or not.Originally posted by loui_ludwigOh really, well u must have a cheap dvd/vhs recorder
Also, HBO is starting to use this type of protection on all their shows, like The Sopranos.Comment
