The thing that bothers me most is that he has 30 professional fights and his defense is still attrocious. He keeps his right hand low most of the time, he snaps the jab out, but pulls it back low and slow. His punches are a little too wide when he's inside.
Since he's maintained these bad habits through 30 professional fights, they are ingrained and will be hard to break. I think if you put him in against anyone at the top from Welter to Middle he will give them prolems, but will get clocked and quite possibly KO'd from them expoiting his leaky defense and wide punching.

An interesting matchup would be Ouma and Williams at 154. I think there would be a record set for most punches ever in a fight at any weight. With Ouma being a light puncher with some defensive holes, I think this is the only guy that Williams could beat at the top level. Of course Williams has never faced anyone who punches as much as he does, so even that's questionable, especially as Ouma throws straighter punches.

30 pro fights is deceiving, he was fighting strictly in the south against total bums. i dont think hes had any real defensive training.. i dont think he has any real experience as far as handling adversity.

i think he will look at this fight and see exactly what we see and hopefully get down to improving it, whether or not he can break some of those habits remains to be seen but ill give him the benefit of the doubt, there are a lot ****tier fighters sporting undefeated records who arent as fun to watch.

i was not impressed with either fighter.

paul williams seems to have alot of holes in his game. i wouldn't exactly call him a hard hitter or an offensive powerhouse. i guess somewhere in between. he also looks to be somewhat awkward and easy to hit on the chin. i do not think that he is going to make anyone forget
about hearns, a smoother boxer and a much, much harder puncher.

matysse is a very game fighter with good punching power in either hand, but he has little in the way of boxing skills and stamina. Yes, it is easy to see why Mattysse was regarded as a good prospect, but I wonder WHY his management put him in with Williams, a fighter who presented too many matchup problems.
