My brother was saying something about: Tyson's father dieing about a week before the fight between him and douglas. He thinks Tyson would win because hed been trained specifically for fighting tall people, and to get in, use his rapid head movements etc.

Larry Holmes went the distance with a prime Evander Holyfield years later and gave him a great fight.

Impossible really to say, I THINK that a prime Tyson would most certainly put up a better fight. Watch Tyson's early fights...LOTS of quick head movements, I've seen him go down dodging punches with movement in his head and waist almost in a catchers squat, no way Lewis hits him moving down there...There is no doubt that Tyson hits lewis much more often, and Lewis hits Tyson less than in their '02 meeting.

Yes, Tyson struggled with big guys with jabs, but I truly believe that Tyson would beat Douglas 9/10 times. Tyson was not in it that night in Tokyo, and Douglas fought the PERFECT fight, and Tyson still nearly won. Lewis is different though, much better than Douglas could dream of being.

Basically my thinking is either Tyson by KO within the first 5 rds...if it goes longer than that then Lewis starts to win rounds and either wins in a decision, or maybe a LATE (11th, 12th) KO

                Tyson by early knockout.
no ****ing way. lewis beats tyson every time, terrible matchup for tyson. lewis would frustrate and humiliate tyson.
dont get me wrong i like tyson but lewis is the perfect guy to beat him.

I thought the fight was close, and Holyfield's combinations were quite powerful.

On the subject of prime - Tyson would knock out Lennox Lewis.
Age had nothing to do with it by the time Tyson V Lewis did happen (one fighter was washed up, the other wasn't, simple as that), and obviously, Lewis was the only fighter of the two who i would label as anywhere near his best, despite age. Lewis matured as a fighter as he got older, Tyson was simply finished as a fighter by the time he fought Lewis. That fact was emphasised by defeats to Williams and McBride (not much emphasis should be placed on his comeback victory over the joke that is Clifford Etienne).
Theoretically, picture the Tyson who destroyed Trevor Berbick for the heavyweight title (This is when i would label Tyson at his awesome best) against Lennox Lewis at his best.
Sorry, but despite the arguments for height, power, etc, etc in Lewis' favour, Mike Tyson would have beaten Lewis.
I take nothing away from Lewis, he was a great fighter but IMO Tyson was much better and i could give my reasons why but i'd be going on all day.
Tyson at his best beats Lewis at his best, end of.
