    They aren't on the list.

This year’s list therefore omits the likes of Usain Bolt, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, who were each considered to have reached their commercial peaks after years at the pinnacle of world sport.

This list for athletes who they predict will become the most marketable in the next 3 years. Messi and Ronaldo are already at their peaks.

Do you SERIOUSLY believe Joshua is the most marketable athlete? Come on dude...
The list is based on trends to determine marketability for the next 3 years. AJ is still in his infancy and has a lot more to grow but despite that he already has more sponsors than any other boxer in HISTORY.. and hes only going to get bigger.

Just let that settle in.. History has shown that heavyweight champions of the world have been the most marketable and popular athletes in all sports. AJ isn’t there yet but there is no denying his marketability and potential.

The guy will stack up sponsorships because he looks the part and says all the right things to allow him to get corporate backing. I predict we’ll see him in movies and videogames in the near future.

He appeared on Graham Norton show and his episode got gained more views than the episodes with Tom Cruise, Jamie Fox, David Beckham and Will Smith in.
I know but the uk market isn't large enough yet to give him the larger market value of other athletes in the list when as far as I see all of them have a larger global reach than him currently

If they have asked an industry consultant taking account of the present value of their predicted future commercial cash flows then that is something different and it should be taken in that context. But if you're asking about the here and now there is no way he's no 1 and only a uk newspaper would possibly think so

Lol, I'm familiar with 3 names on that list so I can't put a lot of stock in anything they're saying.

Well he’s not really marketed over here. When I was at Turkey I saw a few posters of him.. never seen any posters in this country. In Dubai they had around 50 huge posters of him on the main road in Dubai and there was life size cut outs of him in the malls and appeared on TV ads there. I haven’t seen a single TV advert off him in this country.. He’s on TV ads in the US too.

He’s marketed heavy in other countries which I find surprising.

God knows who Stephen Curry is I've never heard of him in my life and I don't know how he managed to get to number 2. Surely Pogba should be number 2. But that doesn't mean that Stephen guys isnt marketable.

What a suprise that AJs personal cheerleader makes a thread pumping AJs tires and using a UK based magazine as proof that AJ is the most marketable star in the world

                Nope not biased at all

I'm just waiting for Nahmean to make a thread something like

Anthony Joshua has replaced Jesus as most recognizable Human to ever walk the Earth

                Or

Anthony Joshua the real life Batman/ Greatest boxer to ever lace them up during the day , Crime fighting superhero at night

I would think his apparent conversion to Islam has reduced his marketability among some segment of the fanbase.

Well he has been in lots of advertising, in fact, Joshua is the only profesional boxer that I have ever seen in publicity here in my country.
I don't know why people keeps saying that Joshua isn't known outside UK when almost every single boxing knows who he is.
He's working with beats by Dre. and Under Armour and he filled the wembley stadium with 100.000 persons and has appeared in two well known talk shows recently.
I don't know why people have such a hard time accepting that Joshua is becoming the biggest name in boxing.
