WBSS Cruiserweight edition - Line up, News, Rumours

So it looks like the Cruiser are stepping up to the plate in a very real way with many of the top guys signed up or heavily rumoured to be announced soon.

    Confirmed line up:

    Mairis Breidis (WBC Champ)
    Murat Gassiev (IBF Champ)
    Krzysztof Wlodarczyk
    Yunier Dorticos (WBA interim)

    Heavily rumoured:

Krzysztof Głowacki (according to fat Dan, to be announced soon)
Oleksander Usyk (WBO Champ - Sources close to Loeffler say he is likely to enter)
Youri Boy Kalenga (says he wants to enter)
Illunga Makabu (has applied to enter)
Dmitri Kudryashov (says he wants to enter edit: basically confirmed. Waiting for official announcement)

    Hinted Rumours:

Mike Perez (Hearn says he has one cruiserweight potentially entering. Assuming it isnt Tony Bellew (who has a mega payday waiting for when Haye comes back), Perez is a likely option.)

Sources to be posted in comments...

I never expected a tourney like this when the plan was announced. The SMWs are more like what i expected. A decent name or two followed by a bunch of nobodies looking for a cash grab. But this is basically all the best Cruisers in the world barring Lebedev, who is on the downside of his career now.

Unreal. Cant wait for it to kick off

They should just do a 16 person crusierweight and forgot Middleweight.

Thats too many people. 8 is perfect. Takes just under a year & if you got a solid top ten, like CW, &/or a division totally up for grabs it works out well. 16 man tournament would likely have injuries, subs, missed dates & all sorts of bs no one wants to see.

If no one at 168 wants to have $10M in their bank account after 3 W's in this tournament f#ck their ****** asses.
