Comments Thread For: Dana White: We'll Learn From Mayweather-Pacquiao Mistakes

Dana White warned fans this week to avoid getting scammed by resellers already offering absurdly expensive tickets to the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Conor McGregor fight. White wrote a message on his Instagram page Friday to inform fans that pricing for tickets hasn't even been finalized. Mayweather-McGregor is scheduled to take place in nine weeks, but organizers of this huge August 26 pay-per-view event in Las Vegas haven't decided when tickets will go on sale.

I still don't believe this fight is happening. Someone will get injured or fail a test or something.

What the hell does that even mean? The promoters did everything right, and they sold an unreal amount of ppvs. The fighters are the ones who disappointed. How do you change that?

I don't think you read the article. There were a lot of logistical issues with the first fight for fans leading up to the event, due to sloppy execution in terms of ticket distribution and the disemenation of information avdbout the fight, closed circuit, hotels m, etc.

He's just saying they'll do better with those things this time around.

I'm guessing they'll spend millions and millions of dollars promoting this fight.
These MMA people spend millions promoting their fights.
Probably five times boxing promoters do.
You can't miss every UFC fight. They're all over the sports channels.
Don't even know if these people will break even.
This idea that boxing fans and MMA fans will converge is imaginary.

This post is weird but your name may be reflective of your "denial." There's nothing unbelievable about financially savy guys coming together to make more money than they could otherwise.

And, maybe you didn't hear me either. There's always errors on the biz end but to refer to the "mistakes" of the most successful event ever (by a mile) is like saying, "I want to be a great boxer but I don't want to make the mistakes Mayweather made."
