Maybe I just dont have what it takes to be a boxer. I got my ass kicked in my last three sparrings and I'm kinda loosing determination. I'm just not gifted like other guys. Youre maybe thinking that I'm ***** but trust me, I'm just not gifted. Theres no way I can change it. I should hang it up...
Maybe I should give up..

If you're serious about quitting, you should talk to your trainer first. He knows better about what he sees in your sparring and can give you good advice. If its something important to you, just switch your training around a little. Trying new things in training is a good way to keep your heart in it and improve your training results.Originally posted by SweatMaybe I just dont have what it takes to be a boxer. Marciano was not gifted as a boxer. There are so many that have been succesfull without an abundance of talent.
Listen kid, losing a few sparring matches is what every good fighter has done and every good fighter to come will do the same. Losing in sparring is nothin'. You must come back with the knowledge gained and continue on. If your getting hurt really bad then thats another matter but if your just being out boxed then stick with it.
Boxing is alot about heart. How bad do you want it?
When I decided to turn pro I went to another gym with my trainer. He had me sparring experienced pros who were just handing me my ass on a nightly basis. For about 2 or 3 months I kept showing up, getting my ass handed to me hard and then showing up the next day to do it all again. Then one day everything clicked. Courtney Hooper and I were sparring and he tried to dig a hook into the side of my head. I rolled and caught the shot and quickly returned a nice hook that landed flush. Courtney dropped his hands, opened his eyes wide and looked over at my trainer in surprise. "Your boys learnin' to really fight here" he said or something similar. From that day on it was a whole new ball game. Anyway, you will have to take some lumps to learn the trade, there is no other way. Either you will have the heart to come back after getting beaten or you will not. Its entirely up to you.

Never give up playa...there will come a point in your career when you know whats best to do..but giving up becaiuse you got beat up in your last three sparring matches is not the answer...most champions today took some of the worst ass beatings that eventuall made them the fighter they are today.,...just work hard and give it all you got everytime you're in the ring...good luck playa....Originally posted by SweatMaybe I just dont have what it takes to be a boxer. Sparring are sparring! They ain't a real fight. Many, many fighters get their ass's kicked in sparring before they become good fighters.
****, the GREAT ROBERTO DURAN lost his first 3 amature fights and we all know the rest of the story.
hang tough, keep training, keep practicing if you want to get better you will keep at it. if you are having good tough sparrings against good boxers then know that you are getting better, you will see the difference when you fight amature or when you go to sparr against another team gym.
if you know who yanki(sp) lopez is he said he used to get his ass kicked in sparring he hanged in their and fought for a world title a few times.
fernando vargas used to get his ass kicked in sparring hanged tough and well we know the the story.
as long as you are doing what it take for you to advance, you will be alright. and you need a tougher mentality, build your ego up, be more confident in yourself and your abilities.Comment

two good reply's by rockin and ferocity there!!
i think you have personal question marks over your own ability!
but why!! the only why to learn is to get your ass kicked!
if a guy keeps jabbing your face off you learn to keep them up.
or if a guy keeps slamming you with his left hook you learn to avoid it!!
there is only so many times they will get away with the same tricks, your trainer may even see that your learing when you dont!
defo dont quit without speaking to him first.
but i do totally agree with ferocity about builing your confidence tho!!Comment

that's the type of attitude that will prevent you from succeeding at anything difficult in life. you can talk to your trainers, work harder, get some help from more experienced fighters, whatever you have to do to improve, or you could just quit.Comment
