lots of mexican fighters, but they tend to have lots of fights before even going for the title.

fighters back in the day usually went to the pros fast because they needed the money.

    Rocky Marciano didnt' have many

George Foreman had like 25 fights in a short time and won a Gold medal, then later became the Heavyweight Champion.

Rahman beat one of my best friends "Hurrikane" Hugh Holquin in 1995 in NY for some kind of amateur title, not sure which one.

Thanks for the info, and that sucks for your boy, does anybody know his record??? I just remember hearing Merchant or Steward saying that he did alot of his learning as a pro, which i assume means that he didn't have an extensive amateur career, someone enlighten me.

I know that he had an amateur career because they were talking on Friday Night Fights about how Rahman fought Joe Mesi twice in the amateurs. They each won one of the fights by the way. I think Rahman may have been trained by Kevin Rooney for a while in the amateurs.
