Neither of those was a quit... Broner was trying to get a point taken and Kov was tired/got low blowed (stoppage was still premature IMO).

Really didn't know people hate Kov this much until now. Their imaginations are running wild. Descriptions of the fight have been passed along so many times they don't even vaguely resemble reality.

Apparently he was subjected to an 8 round one-sided assbeating and begged Weeks to stop the fight following a beautiful liver shot. lmao.

He took a beating in the 8th, he was going downhill from around the 5th though. It was clear that his power would not be a factor with the first few rds however, and ultimately that is what took his confidence and broke him. You don't like it? That's fine, but that 8th rd was an ass whipping.

He had a serious shoulder injury. I dont get when people critisize a fighter for things like that. His shoulder was seriously ****ed up.

            Fake lowblow from Round 7:

Here is a fake lowblow from round 8:

Getting hit in the groin several times within minutes by a professional championship level boxer is totally painless. Kovalev quit. Better prepare his nuts next time, work that bag.

Lol, someone mentioned Cintron leaping out of the ring.

Most embarrassing for a boxer that I didn't like was Acelino Freitas. The way he quit was disgraceful. I remember how he quit against Diego Corrales and also how he quit against Juan Diaz. And after he quit against Diaz he had the nerve to have a member of his team carry him on his shoulders while he was smiling waving to the crowd with his arms up in the air as if he was victorious.

Acelino Freitas, those quit jobs changed his career forever.

Quitting on the stool is also embarrassing if it's the fighter who says he doesn't want to fight. If the trainer, doctor or ref stop it while on the stool then it's not so bad.

Lol, Kovalev must be a mutant human being then because I never knew the liver was that low.

Gotta be Kov. Broner did a far worse acting job but he finished the fight. Kov on the other hand wanted out.

i really don't think kovalev quit. he was bent over at the waist from low blows, and he'd already been hammered low all night.

he was 100% fading and may have gotten stopped anyway, but the guy was getting pounded on the nuts and should have been given 5 minutes to recover on several occasions and in several different rounds. ward's a dirty fighter. he just is. he's not evander holyfield, but he's not mother teresa, either. i've been a fan of the guy for a long, long time now, but i'm honest.

just because a guy is losing a fight, you don't like him, etc, doesn't excuse his opponent from fouling. ward consistently went low. i really don't put aton of blame on ward. it's a pro boxing match and you take what you can get. i blame weeks. that was one of the worst refereeing jobs we have seen in a while. kovalev shoul dhave been given time to recover, especially in that ending sequence where a series of low blows ended the fight. FFS you can't get a better camera angle than the one that is floating around of the final blow. it was so f#cking low .
