Whilst I believe kovalev's inability to defend himself due to his fatigue, conditioning and sustained pressure that was mounting on him was the defining factor Weeks called the fight off as it appeared Kovalev was not protecting him and can be perceived as 'I quit' by Kovalev which was the more of the cringeworthy and embarrassing of the two between when Broner was rolling around on the floor play acting trying to get Maidana suspended because he had taken a systematic beating at the hands of Chino.

Whilst Broner's wasn't an actual quit as Kovalev's wasn't his could be perceived more of a quit through his desperation to get out of the ring by any means possible.
