How can any other sport compare to Boxing?

when you have big fights happening year-round, it's almost like the super bowl every couple of months. What's crazy is that people who don't like Boxing completely ignore it while us wild boxing fans enjoy these precious fights like chilled glasses of westvleteran abt 12. To us, it's like a cherished, rare, expensive glass of wine or beer, every couple of months that we get to enjoy. To them it's nothing. They have to wait around for their sport's season to start up while I enjoy year round fights between the top guys.

It's a good year to be a fan...

good post...people say boxing is on the slide.but there is a great boxing card at least once a month somewhere in the world..sometimes a couple of times a month, for me it is the best sport...with alot of big name great fighters around today..also i think people see the past boxing eras through rose coloured spectacles..this is as great a time as any...

Whats missing from boxing is there arent really any more active celebrety icons ie, Ali, Leonard, Tyson, Holyfield, Foreman and to a lesser extent Lennox Lewis. Non boxing fans dont know the boxers of today. I guess DLH is somewhat well known. Of course, I am talking exclusively about the States.

I think many casual fans actually measure boxing on the popularity and level of boxings Heavy Weights. If they dont see huge marketable heavy weight names and a clear champion they will always say that boxing is down.

Boxing is not thriving right now but its the same as it has ever been. We just need the public to believe in the integrity of the sport. Talk to the common joe on the street and they will tell you that boxing is fixed, it is not but that is their perception of our sport. Bring some integrity and honesty back to our game and we will bring alot of people into the game like it was in the hayday of the 30's,40'sand 50's. Funny how the boxing was big time mob controlled when it was most popular. They must have been doing something right.

nothing wrong with boxing, the years have been great for a few years now. as long as they keep making good competitive fights boxing will gain more boxing fans sooner or later. everytime its seems that a fight is held a staples center it sells out so this is a good sign of good things to come

I bet when Cotto and Paulie will go at it at MSG, the place is gonna be sold out.

the problem with boxing is ppv. casual fans that want to watch a fight usually arent willing to pay that much in addition to their regular cable bill to see a good fight. or even a fight that isnt all that good i.e mosley vargas 2. please. the ppv **** has to stop so people can actually start appreciating the sport without the posibility of feeling ripped off.

Boxing is awesome I love it but there are also other awesome sports. I agree that it is hard to understand why some people might not like boxing but then i figure its hard for them to enter our "realm". Theyd probably start checking it out with a heavyweight ppv championship fight thinking thats as good as it gets and like current heavyweight fights usually do they disappoint. So they never come back and say boxing sucks. So i cant really blame them.

Im sure if every fan that wanted to check out boxing for the first time witnessed a Corrales vs Castillo 1, Morales vs Barrera 1, Hearns vs hagler, Sanchez vs Nelson, theyd all be die hard fans like most of us are today.
