Good stuff from Cliff. I have also said that a 5 min break and a point deducted would have been the right thing. Weeks blew it. Just like Reis did against Kessler and the judges did in the first Kovalev fight. Does anybody see a trend? Does anybody question why Ward won't travel?

Excellent article! Fanboys from both sides would do well to read it

If they were to make a 3rd fight I don't see how Ward doesn't come in as the heavy favorite.

Again, low blows + Tony Week's stoppage aside, Ward was about to actually knock out Kovalev. I wish it could have played out a bit differently to leave no doubt.

I mean, you cannot deny what was happening. Ward chin checked Kovalev and had him seeing stars. The low shots just muddied up an inevitable outcome.

Credit where credit's due, Ward won. I'd watch a 3rd fight if they made it, I just doubt Ward see's any point to it.

Before the fight Kathy Duva has stated she had no interest in working with Ward's team again....

And lets not talk about Kovalevs constant clinching and holding. Accompanied by a Low Blow according to the Kovalev excuse makers.

See my sig? Imagine that guy in the blue shots bent forward. That's how it looks.

Kovalev will be a free agent soon if that is that case. Duva is horrible. She is not a great promoter, she just got lucky. Neither Roc Nation nor Duva should be in the boxing game. The promotion skillz are horrible.

I have heard this lame argument that the last punch or last three punches that Ward threw were low blows too many times. My response is still the same -- which is the punches were legal regardless of whether they were low or not.

Kovalev chose to bend over in an unprotectable position before the last three shots were thrown. Kovalev chose not to protect himself. Because Kovalev chose to bend over, any punch that Ward threw that was aimed at his stomach or rib cage was perfectly legal.

If fighter A is in the midst of throwing a punch at fighter B's head and fighter b chooses to turn his back to fighter A as the punch is being thrown, fighter A is not guilty of landing an illegal blow if he hits his opponent in the back of the head because fighter b should be protecting himself at all times. That is what happened in this case.

All of those last three punches were legal, regardless of what the promoters stool pigeons, aka boxing writers, say.
