Anyone know of a boxer in a similar incident who had a full recovery?

When I hear pieces of skull have been removed after brain trauma like this the guy is never the same that I can recall.

I mean even now he's thumbs upping & blinking his eyes for yes or no. Thats pretty f#cked up a situation to be in a week & a half after most injuries.

I understand people are looking for hopeful signs, but this kid has had a highly destructive incident happen to his body & this isn't likely to be a good story unless we take it from the "he could be dead" angle & forget about the life he had & the quality of life he had previous to this incident that he likely didn't appreciate like none of us ever or rarely do probably.

Yeah I thought the worst when I saw what happened. But the thumbs up & blinking in response to answers is a really good sign surely?

Admittedly it's not good when a piece of skull is removed. Not being a Neurosurgeon my opinion is somewhat shaped by the limited knowledge I have, obviously. In the UK we had Spencer Oliver who I believe had a piece of skull cut away and has gone on to make a full recovery (now commentates fights on TV).

I guess it all depends on the severity of the injury and the quality & speed of the treatment administered. Lets hope the latter can overcome the former.
