Corruption or bias is the only explanation for that view imo.
Many of those shots were clearly low. One in particular was extremely low.
Im not a particular fan of Kovalev or Ward. Anyone with eyes can see they were low shots.Comment

Kovalev was flopping and turning his back from legal blows.
He didn't want any more of that work.Comment

Kovalev was beginning to turn away from Ward. His body language was awful. The fight got stopped because Kovalev was frozen with his hands down. Ward had to stop his attack and look at Weeks because Kovalev wasn't responding.
He should have taken a knee but his bell was rung too hard.
It was a good stoppage because it saved the fighter from more damage. Ward looked incredible.Comment

How many fights have we seen with a guy in a corner looking tired? Now how many top fights have we seen waved off with two borderline body shots and a low blow making a guy crouch over? Ive never seen it. Now you might be glad Ward won, or think he was going to, but you gonna tell me you was happy with the stoppage, or if you would've been the other way around I ain't believing it mate.Comment

Don't act like every bodyshot Ward threw was low.
Kovalev got that ass beat down.
Ward fought right handed...we wasn't prepared for that.Comment

So did Tony Weeks.
Kovalev was THROUGH..I didn't see him protest the stoppage....because he QUIT.Comment

They were low blows. Thats an illegal shot and Weeks should have seen them and penalised Ward. No questions, those are the rules.Comment

Bob Bennett, the executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, saw no issue with Saturday's ruling by referee Tony Weeks, who stopped the Andre Ward vs. Sergey Kovalev rematch in the eight round at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Kovalev was hurt bad by a right hand, and then Ward swarmed on him with shots to the body. Kovalev claims that several of the shots were very low and forced him to sit on the ropes.
