Has Kovalev Passed Manny as the Excuse Maker of the Decade?

The overwhelming majority of the boxing press (between 70-80% on lists I've seen) scored the first fight for Kovalev.
The second fight ended when Kovalev hunched over from blatant low blows and will be formally protested.
Anyone who really calls that stuff "excuses" has lost their being-taken-seriously privileges.
BoxingScene is infested with a certain crowd but if you're on regular social media -- Ward's stock dropped quite a bit. It's just ****punch jokes and "This is why I don't watch boxing".
Casual fans make ****punch jokes like alexkid.Comment

Can't you add another excuse maker in there. Give me someone I'll have an easier time voting for lolComment

Kovalev was complaining and wincing over legal shots to the body. He curled up on the ropes and got one punch beneath the belt.
The punch beneath the belt didn't result in the knock out. He was hit beneath the belt because he could not properly defend himself. What he did was akin to turning your back in the middle of a beating, a sign that he could no longer continue.
And if you don't believe me, just look at his initial response. No protest, just acceptance.Comment

It's still Pac. He is the biggest sore loser and excuse maker of all time. I mean Kov is a *****, but to be fair Ward is dirty as ****. But Pac got put to sleep by Marquez and called it a lucky punch. Mayweather schooled him so bad he made up a shoulder injury to save face. He ducked Prime Mayweather because the cut wasn't healed yet doe. He's scared of needles doe. Respect for the Mexican dates doe. The split wasn't right doe. Now he can't fight Crawford because black fighters "aren't marketable". Pac always has excusesComment

Manny Pacquiao:
1. Shoulder injury that was healed by saltwater
2 "I thought I won the fight"
Sergey Kovalev
1. After losing the first fight he blamed the refs instead of his lack of stamina and inside fighting skills
2. After losing the second fight he blamed the ref and tried cried about legit body shots to make Ward stop throwing them

Its pretty interesting how most boxers always need an out with why they lost besides they were the 2nd best guy in the ring that night. I think the individuality of boxing brings that out of mfers.
I mean think about it. If your football team loses because the RB sucks, everyone on the team can throw the blame on that guy (while the RB claims the offensive line sucks) & that controls the narrative of the team as far as why we lost goes besides we were the 2nd best team today. In boxing its on you & only you. So you gotta lie to yourself I think, & thats who these stories are for don't get it twisted, cuz you can't excel at your highest level in boxing if you don't think you are or are capable of being #1.
So I actually am more of a fan of guys who come up with excuses when they lose then the guys who just say "yea I lost, he was better" cuz the lie you tell yourself is healthier for you reaching your maximum capabilities in boxing I tend to believe. Didn't run stats on it, but that seems to be the case more often then not. But I think you can ultimately say anything to "the people", but what you say to yourself plays the biggest part so if you say you legit lost, but don't really believe that then thats a better way for you to roll than being the guy who says you lost cuz of this or that when you know that its just an excuse. So if you believe your lie I think your good lol.Comment
