Kovalev himself knew he lost, I don't think anyone should argue that. Those body shots did all the damage in the later rounds. A few of them might be low but they were not low low low enough IMO, we need to encourage that art of bodypunching and if fighters are pretending to be hit on the groin or balls then it would take away that art. I felt Kovalev didn't want to be there in the 8h round and I don't see how he would have been able to continue until the 12th round with that body language.

This is like the Brook fight against Spence, you could tell those body shots were folding him and you could tell he wanted out of there, the ref gave Kov a perfect excuse with that silly stoppage. If that was Amir Khan I would be like yeah stop it. But a killer like Kovalev? To be honest am still in shock that Kovalev let himself get beat up like that.

Listen to you idiots, those punches were low but not low enough!! LOL a low blow is a low blow, kovalev should have been given 5 minutes and ward warned earlier and a point taken from him

Kovalev was 3 up on one card, it was a close fight with ward having a good round 8, so what, the fight goes on and see who wins. Its one all in fight terms at best for ward after he was given a gift decision first fight, then it was the judges and now its a ref who was clearly looking at those low shots at the end but waved it off, one of the most ridiculous things i have seen in boxing, he should be banned

Ward will always find a way to win at home, he got all his super six at home, gets away with headbutts, has his judges and now low blows and the ref!! ****ing hell, the guy is a joke big time

btw you cant assume kov was done, he should have been given 5 mins for those blows no doubt

        It was a close fight...

Even if the ref allowed the fight to continue, it would've been a 10-8 round, so he would've been down 3 on 2 cards, and only up 1, if your scorecard was ridiculous enough to only give ward 2 rounds out of 7.

Add to that, he was obviously gassed, and getting weaker by the second. His cutman said the ref stopped it, or he would've gotten hurt. What more do you need?

The guys own corner is telling you, YDKSAB.

But let me guess, "his cutman was a plant from the Ward camp, who conspired with all the other ne6roes, to bring down the great kovalev."

Kovalev just took a good right hand, doesnt mean the fights over!!! You never seen a fighter recover on his stool after a shot? PLUS he NO DOUBT should have been give 5 mins on top of that after those LOW BLOWS, see then the fight goes on round 9 and see what happens. Thats 8 mins to recover from illegal shots (yes a few of them i think) and a horrible and i mean horrible ref stoppage, thats the rules

Please go watch the ENTIRE sequence after that right.

There were body shots landed between then, and when kovalev ended up on the ropes. He was running, and holding on for dear life. By the time he ended up on the ropes, he was a goner...

The ref stopped him from being brutalized. He lives to fight another day.

Dont agree with that at all!! Not one bit, he could have easily survived the round, dont you get it, Ward low blowed him, its not a fight ender, its illegal, he should have been warned earlier and a point taken that round. Kovalev might have been dazed from the legal shots but he was still fighting, what the **** happened to a COUNT???? LOL

I don't know if he survivies the round. There were about 35 seconds left, after he doubled over, sat in between the ropes, and the ref waived it off. The part you fail to realize, is that he was taking shots, not protecting himself, and not firing back, and being hurt to boot. The ref did what he was trained to do, and protected the defenseless man from being hurt.

That final shot was a judgement call, and it was so close, and not obviously blatantly low, especially in full speed, that there is no ref in boxing, that would've pulled ward off of him, to give him a penalty, after hurting a guy that bad.

You have to realize, Kov was hurt waaaaayyyy before, and there were a lot of shots landed before that last questionable shot, to pull ward off, and give him a penalty. We may have to agree to disagree.

I honestly think it is very hard for him, to accept that he just got stopped by a man he hates. Boxers are very prideful. SOG looked so explosive tonight, those right hands was so fast, and this is in LHW.
