Regardless of what anyone thinks about the ending, it was very clear that Ward was going to stop Kov. That right hand showed it and the body shots that were clean were Kov's undoing. If Ward had gone to the head instead of the body, Kov would have been stopped by head shots. It is what it is. I'm not seeing the need for a third fight. Whatever the commission does or does not do, this series has run its course. But the only fight that makes sense as the next fight is for one of these guys to fight Stevenson. Ward though should not move up in weight. I'm sure a lot of Kov fans are hoping Usyk will get revenge if he does.

Kovalev's downfall started long before that. He started gassing in the 5th round...you could see it on his face between rounds, he was unraveling. I think he actually thought he was gonna be in better condition...when it became clear he wasn't, and he had needlessly pushed the pace early, he started to fold.

Kovalev ate a big right then tried to cry for a stoppage in the action to recover.
Instead the ref stopped the fight. Talk about backfire.
It was a bit early in my opinion though.
I think the ref should have let Ward tee off some more until Kovalev took a knee or got KTFO.
Because he didn't actually go down he feels he has the room to make all these excuses.
All the complaints about dirty tatics from a fighter that did his fair share of rabbit punches, wrestling, and pushing down on wards head in clinches.
It's a fight not a ballet. And I didn't expect the so called tougher fighter to start who crying over roughhouse tactics.
So much for breaking wards arms, kicking his butt, and all the other macho talk from kovalev.
Now the excuse train starts again.
Wouldn't mind a third fight. Why not Ward will just beat him again. But after Ward beats Stevenson.
