I heard people say that Kovalev had his shorts too high - isn't that the job of the referee to say/do something? If not who? Weeks should be barred from officiating championship fights for a few fights just as in the BPL referees are demoted after a bad performance.

Kovalev was tired after the first round. In fact even in the introductions you could see him breathing hard. He was either really angry or nervous but his adrenaline was probably depleted by the time the fight started. Did you watch the fight? Weeks told both fighters twice that anything on the belt was legal since the trunks were high.
