I'm a fan of neither but respect both but that was a terrible stoppage, TW should never be allowed to ref fights of this magnitude he always makes bad decisions, a standing 8 was or time to recover from low blow should have come first

Weeks did the right thing......

Kovalev was rocked and then a sustained body attack with no response. Weeks stopped the fight because of a multitude of things. Kovalev defenseless on ropes. You don't let a prize fighter like Kovalev get destroyed. He was in no position to win and was looking for a way out with fake complaints of low blows. I assure you kovalev urinating blood which most fans don't understand from body blows.

It was a horrible stoppage, but Ward had figured him out and was going to stop him anyway.

If anything Weeks rescued Kovalev, because now he can save face and claim that the Americans "robbed" him again and will still be a hero to his "alt-right" fan base.
