I made a post about the fight being on ESPN 2 but I was just joking.

I mean, that's what happened last time boxing saw an announcement like this.

        Right?
It's phenomenal. Boxing will now be on every major network except NBC. I mean the in-house stuff gets old but when the money is right, the cross-promotion fights will get made..

I dont think we'll miss HBO. They are absolutely terrible anymore. Any decent fight is PPV. Their regular schedule is abominable. PBC and TR have realized the future is network and regular cable.

Arum have some excellent young talent so this is a great move for ESPN, Top Rank and everybody involved! Also A Boxing Network like WWE Network is something I been posting on this forum. Arum and Top Rank still the best at Developing talent so a Network Deal for him and Top Rank I think will be a great success!

Kinda disappointed in ESPN being the "new deal". ESPN has been showing B & C level fights (or underappreciated A level fights) for years in boxing off & on. Idk how they expect to gain some bigger market share this time around with largely the same guys they were showing previously & just seemingly more money getting spent then previously.

Idk about the catalog angle as much of a selling point. If you can watch fights from some app or website fair play thats where things are heading & its not so much a good idea anymore then it'll be doing what everyone is doing soon, but I can't imagine they get much business to watch old Ali & other guys fights. Not to say there isn't an audience for that cuz I know cats will watch old sporting events of all kinds, but I don't believe the market is THAT big at all for those sorta fans. Sports is about live sports not some sh^t from 1976 or 2009.

Should be interesting to watch how this goes doe & who don't wanna see Manny, Crawford & Loma on free TV or regular cable? So respect to Bob for giving us that regardless how this ultimately works out for him.
Top Rank canceled UniMas, presumably the hedge fund will pay for some of the smaller live shows for a while...and those might be on the stream.

Given that they have a lot of Olympians signed, some of those shows may get some interest.

Top Rank has diversified its roster from enough countries to get some amount of foreign tv money.

Those smaller fight cards, along with undercard fights from other cards, and foreign tv fights could be enough live/recent fights to generate some interest...in addition to the "old" fights.

Maybe they'll explore small PPV shows on there as well.

It will be interesting to see how much interest it gets.

Al found out quickly try ESPN isn't looking to pay for fights so he stop giving them good fights. Soon after that we started hearing about massive cost cutting and layoffs at ESPN. Those Golden Boy cards cost about as much as the FNF cards used to cost. ESPN won't even pay for those.

He saw the same thing happening at HBO and got outta there right before the budget cuts

I love the Idea but they need to be reasonable with the monthly price.

I wonder if this might make HBO open up it's doors to PBC fighters again?
