    So, Kovalev basically trains himself?

a couple of things i found interesting from an interview for a russian site:

"His name is Alexander Mikhailovich (when asked about his new SCC) and he trains biathlon. He is a specialist who trains junior biathlon athletes who compete quite successfully. My friend recommended him. When I was in Russia we met and talked. I liked how he thinks and I liked his approach so I asked him to help if he could. It was hard to bring him to America, because he has a main job in Russia. Also getting a Visa was a problem. But thank God we were lucky, he took vacation days and came to America the day before the physical training camp started. He also spend two weeks with me after we moved from the mountains to the valley to help with acclimatization. Now, for the last 10 days I am continuing to put my body into a fighting shape by myself. He went back to Russia but we keep in touch. He still helps and gives advice to me over the phone."

" I never talked to John about someone being at fault for my loss. I think that first and foremost it's me who's responsible in what's happened. It's me who overestimated Ward and overtrained during camp. John has nothing to do with it. He doesn't run my training process. We work mitts with him, as I said a few times before."

Pretty expensive mitt holder. I understand that kovalev knows what he's doing by now...but not being able to take advice/criticism is a major flaw, especially when that person is watching what you're doing from an angle you can't see.

Jackson has a sweet job. I bet he's making good money to just do the mitts.

Didn't Sanchez say that Kovalev wouldn't listen also? Sanchez is usually full of shit but it looks like he's telling the truth this time.

Sometimes it's better to go rouge.

When you master your craft at work, do you constantly want your manager micromanaging you??????????????????????????????????????????????? ???????

Jackson is his trainer and I am sure he helps Kovalev with a fight plan and other boxing stuff like choosing the best sparring partners for Kovalev. He is helping Kovalev perfect his attack and go to the body more. If Kovalev didn't think Jackson was valuable to him Jackson wouldn't be there. Jackson is the trainer of record of one of the best boxers in the world and that helps his reputation as a trainer. Jackson gets paid his asking price for his services to Kolalev so he isn't wasting his time. Jackson was a world champion while Hunter never had even an amateur fight in his life. Kovalev has the right trainer and Jackson trains the right boxer.
