Cotto/Mallignaggi- Chavez/Camacho similarities

Originally posted by machotimeThese two fights are very technically similar.
Malignaggi is very similar to Camacho in several aspects.
Camacho- a flamboyant boxer, with lightning fast hand speed, great footwork, moderate yet limited power. He was a very smart and tricky southpaw that moved very well. He used lateral movement and his superior handspeed in order to humiliate his opponents.
Cotto is similar to Chavez in several aspects as well.
Chavez- a great boxer-puncher that used constant pressure and attrition in order to break down and destroy his opponents. Chavez cut the ring off very well. Chavez used body punches early on and later finished his opponents with combos that included his signature Left hook-right cross.
On 9-12 1992 a bout between a Mexican legend and a flamboyant proud Puerto Rican occurred.
Camacho (much like Malignaggi) promissed that he would prevail using his superior handspeed. He claimed that Chavez was slow, and not smart enough in order to beat him. He claimed that Chavez would not be able to hit him, and you can't hurt what you can hit.
Chavez (much like Cotto) remained quiet, and only promised that he would make Macho suffer.
On that september night what occurred in Las Vegas was brutal. Camacho had early flashes but was occasionaly being hit by Chavez's body punches. As the fight went on, Chavez began to close in on the fast, flamboyant boxer with superior hand speed. The body punches were beginning to manifest their effects as Camacho began to run and hold, avoiding exchanges. Camacho with both eyes severely swollen, refused to allow his corner to stop the fight, but was continually punished every time a new round was commenced. Camacho's punch output went from often, to occasional, to hardly ever, while Chavez's output increased significantly in each round. Camacho with one of the hardest chins in the business, finished a fight in which he was cumulatively broken down and nearly KOed for the first time.
This is how I see Malignaggi/Cotto going. Paulie will run and hit, but you can't run from a boxer that Cuts the ring off better than anyone in the business right now. Corley couldn't run from Cotto, Sosa tried(he ended up brawling with him and was KOed). with COtto's relentless slobberknocking style, which includes boxing, brawling, and attrition, he will eventually catch up with the Italian. Paulie claims that Cotto is one-dimensional, He sais that Cotto is too slow, and is not smart enough in the ring. Cotto has different plans........
Expect this fight to resemble Camacho/Chavez....Only Paulie may not have the chin or pride that Camacho possesed.
Camachita is a joke and comparing Cotto to the Great Julio Cesar Chavez ( I assume your not talking about Jesus ) is a bigger joke.

***in hell people, he aint comparing cottto to chaves! lol
i personaly think its a gud thread cos it DOES resemble the fight stylisticaly NOT literaly!
if paulie cud hit harder i wud say he cud win, but he is feather fisted so cotto even with his suspect chin shud b able to take his shots in order to land his own bombs!
1st few rounds wil b awkward for cotto tho!

Also, Camacho is not a joke he is a former world champ in 4 different weight classes.
I assume that you never saw the Chavez/Camacho fight by your response to this thread.
