Comments Thread For: Ward: I Hurt Kovalev Several Times, But I Let Him Off the Hook

"“It’s just a mindset,” Ward said. “It’s no major overhaul [in training]. It’s just mindset. The type of power that I have, it’s draining power. It’s the type that you look up in the fourth, fifth round, and you’re tired. You know, the type of punches that are landed, the accuracy. And I know watching the first fight, I let him off the hook in several situations, offensively, where I had him and I didn’t get off. And I can’t tell you why I didn’t get off. But watching it, I’m like, ‘Ah! You had him.’ And in this fight, I can’t let him off the hook in those situations.”"
He ain't wrong.

Whenever I hear a boxer say they let someone off the hook by not going for the KO I always think it's BS. He might have felt Kovalev was hurt but Ward has never been the one to go for the "KO". This sounds like mind games but the only way this would work is if there's any truth to it. I don't think there is but only Ward and Kovalev would know the truth.Comment

When Kovalev showed up after the fight with his face messed up and wearing dark shadea at midnight, you knew Ward had punished him.
What? That was SOG in those shades with his face fugged up? My mistake, but those were some large azz shades. lolComment
