Not for Tureano. He won't make as much money against that Russian dude but if he wins he's in line for a mandatory shot at whomever holds the belt after the GGG/Canelo fight. Why would he pass that up for a fight with Jacobs?

Makes no sense, unless they are signing Jacobs.
I see, putting a fight between non-Golden Boy fighters on a Golden Boy PPV is ******ed but feeding a potential Golden Boy opponent for a Canelo (if he wins) to a non-Golden Boy fighter on the PPV undercard be smart. Riiiiiiiiight.Last edited by yankees7448; 06-16-2017, 02:40 PM.

Tureano will be an underdog whether he fights Jacobs or the Russian but he get paid more and higher upside if he wins against Jacobs. Getting Knocked out on some random undercard that nobody sees for peanuts or fighting on one of the biggest PPVs of the year and making more money. Easy choice if I'm Tureano.Last edited by bigdunny1; 06-16-2017, 03:00 PM.

But if they ARE signing Jacobs, then feeding him Tureano is win-win.Last edited by OnePunch; 06-16-2017, 03:08 PM.

That'd be nice, but who's available?
I don't see anyway Lemieux fights him. Lemieux is currently ranked no.2 behind Canelo in the WBO rankings so a BJS fight is possible. He's also desperately looking to get a Cotto fight at the end of the year.

And even if he wins and GGG wins there is no chance GGG is fighting him next. That mandatory won't be enforced for a long time GGG will take a Canelo/Rematch, Jacobs Rematch or will fight to unify with the WBO (Saunders). By the time he's done with all that he might even move up to 168. So who knows how long till the winner of Tureano/Russian dude has to wait for a title shot. And if Canelo beats GGG Tureano can always get a title shot because he's also signed with Golden Boy.

Its only an easy choice if you think Tureano loses to either guy. Tureano might think more of himself and his chances against that Russian guy and thus choose the short money up front to secure the really big fight down the line. But if he knows he's going to get blown out either way then yes it makes sense to get blown out in the bigger fight.
