Comments Thread For: Mayweather-McGregor Brings Back Ali vs. Inoki Memories

Floyd Mayweather's big-money bout with Conor McGregor is not the first time a top boxer has put his reputation on the line against a martial artist. Muhammad Ali agreed to travel to Japan to take on wrestler Antonio Inoki in a so-called 'mixed martial arts championship of the world' in June 1976.

Holy sh7t, does the person who wrote this not know this is exclusively a boxing match? I'm no fan of the fight but to compare it as an actual risk, I mean jeez. What a dumb article.

When the ring announcer (I'm assuming Michael Buffer...) says: "with a record of 0-0 inside the professional boxing ring... Conor Mcgregor!!!!... that's when reality will set in and people will realize... "oh s h i t, this guy hasn't had any professional boxing experience". This is all a farce. Floyd will make 100 mil+. Conor will make 60-90 and catapult himself to movies and stardom. Any real boxing fan will be watching Cotto-Kamegai live from the Stubhub (which I will be at since it's 9 minutes from my home). Don't support this horse****. The most likely outcome is that Conor kicks Floyd and it turns in to some WWE type s h i t. I'm aware it will sell, because people are dumb.

Surely, they will announce McGregor's pro MMA record, they're not ******.

No Mcgregor is pro fighter, he has some combat experience at least. Ali fought a pro wrestler and damn near lost his leg
