Stop Clinging To Myths

Saw this in another thread and it stuns me that after all this time fans of Manny Pacquiao still can't figure out that their guy was at least partially responsible for the fight taking so long to make:

Uhhh NOPE! After manny beat cotto down in 2009 floyd went into hiding for a year and a half, his reasoning was he "wanted to go on vacation with his family" .

If we're honest, MOST of the onus for the fight being delayed so long fall on the shoulders of Arum and Pac.

So many media outlets have done timelines documenting the facts.

ALL OF THEM blame Arum and Manny for pulling out of testing in 2009.

ALL OF THEM document the phantom negotiation of 2010.

ALL OF THEM (except fighthype, which ends in 2011) mention Floyd trying once again to make the fight in 2012.

ALL OF THEM (except fighthype, which ends in 2011) mention Floyd citing Arum as an obstacle to the fight in 2013.

ALL OF THEM (except fighthype, which ends in 2011) mention Floyd predicting the eventual date of the fight in 2014.

Can we finally put this myth of Floyd not wanting the fight or delaying the fight for 5 years ALL BY HIMSELF to bed?

Can we finally admit that it was a group effort on the part of BOTH PARTIES that had everyone waiting so long?

It's amazing how some folks need to perpetuate the lie that Floyd avoided the fight when facts point to the opposite being true.

Arum and Manny found a way not to fight on at least 3 different occasions, maybe more.

And they did this over the whole time.

We still talking about that cluster****? I've always leaned toward bob arum for most of the blame...but i wonder what would have happened if floyd didn't ask for the extra testing. Either way, it was a sin to let that fight "marinate" for 6 years...**** both sides for that and for ripping the fans off when it finally did happen. That fight and everything leading up to it from the beginning is a stain on boxing imo.

the only cats that this type of stuff matters to, really, is the floyd boys who live for throwing the little guy under the bus when people to this day can't understand what his hangup was about fighting the little guy without all his testing issues and false accusations of the little guy in 2009 for ped use....

i mean, the little guy had to go as far as sue the mayweathers for defamation and win just to keep the mayweathers from totally buttf**king him....honestly, if oscar was on the juice, floyd, who was nobody at that time, floyd would have went ahead and fought him anyway, juice and all of oscars demands, just to get to that big $$....

i mean, its important for these cats to make people believe that because the little guy walked, that the little guy is the only one to blame here...

i mean everybody saw and read how frightened he and his pops was to fight the version of the little guy that was polaxing cotto and hatton...
