There doesn't seem to be a specific American style. While both Floyd and Roy are very smooth, their styles are much more different to each other, than say Between Rigo and Lara (where you can see similarities as a result of both training the Cuban school of boxing). You might say that the Cuban system is better generally at producing smooth styles, at molding talent. There's more showboating with Americans, which makes the fighter look sloppy unless he's a genetic freak like Floyd or Roy.
