Canelo-GGG will happen on September. There's never been any issues for two fights to be a month apart, the issue would've been if they were on the same day.

Cotto? That's a non issue. Cotto is fighting a no-hoper on a different channel.

With all that said, let's face it, those who were planning to buy May-Conor in the first place, are already set in stone that they will buy it. Those who will stream it already know they will stream it regardless. Those who won't watch, will watch Cotto-Kamegai.

I dunno man, I can see a businessman thinking "UFC fans will buy it: there's a ton of them. Floyd fans will buy it, he's the biggest name in boxing. It's a far bigger spectacle than Cotto's fight."

Plus, Floyd seems like the kinda guy who'd be mad you took his date and try to fohk ya.

That's exactly why they're choosing this date. The Las Vegas review Journal published a rumor and said the fight could happen sooner than you think.

The main reason they want it early is:

"Though this is far from a confirmation that the fight is a sure thing, it is the word of an informed individual. The strategy would be: Take some of the revenue and energy from Canelo-Triple G before that September date. Both fights are expected to top out at $5,000 for ringside seats.”

Why would he reserve the MGM Grand instead of T-mobile arena?

You can't criticise him for financial smarts. But when it comes to boxing, are you really saying you can't criticise the best fighter in the world for taking on a guy making hes pro debut? Come on dude..

Of course Floyd loves boxing so much he wants to tank boxing's biggest fight and stage in a while to promote his joke fight. Doesn't Floyd manage boxers?

No way in hell do they do it then. Cotto will do at leat 400k on free HBO. And you know HBO may just f with Mayweather and do a free preview weekend just for the hell of it.

Mayweather is to smart to do it that date.

If Oscar thinks he's going to be able to get $5000 per ringside seat for Canelo-GGG he's out of his mind.

Canelo-GGG is a great fight, but it's not THAT big. You have one guy that draws pretty well in Canelo, but GGG hasn't proven to be nearly as big of a draw. If they price this thing at $5000 at the top end and $1000 at the low end they will struggle to fill the place.

This is not Floyd-Pac. To make my point even further it's not Floyd-McGregor. Floyd-McGregor has two guys that pull in 1 million + PPV buys on a regular basis which means they could expect more than 2 million PPV buys for this for sure, don't forget they are going to be drawing from the biggest stars from two different sports.

Canelo-GGG has one draw in Canelo, with GGG not so much.

Honestly there's probably not an ideal date for this fight in 2017 anymore. August will probably be soon to put this fight together and after Sep, you have Joshua-Klit to contend with depending on where that is and then December is too late, people have better things to do.
