Yep lol. But it's the truth. Unless you were rooting for Floyd to win, most of his fights were uncompetitive and boring. Not just his style, but how he cherry picked. Can you believe the "best boxer ever" only fought once or twice per year, and yet used those dates to fight the likes of Victor Ortiz and Robert Guerrero? Maybe in the moment people fell for the promotion that these were top opponents in a deep division, but in hindsight now you can see that Floyd cherry picked B-level guys in a weak division.

With GGG, it's different. He's fought a lot of B-level guys too, but not because he cherry picked, because the A-level guys didn't want to fight him until they saw him decline. What's also different is that even if you're not rooting for him to win, watching him fight is very entertaining. The mismatches definitely got a little old when he was at his peak and the top guys wouldn't fight him, but he still made them fun to watch because of his nonstop offense and power punching.

GGG shouldn't play to the crowd against Canelo. Simply executing his offense responsibility and following the gameplan, including body work early, will eventually create the crowd pleasing beatdown he is after all on its own. No need to give Canelo free shots, or swing wildly to make it a war. Just do it methodically like he did against Lemieux, and the fireworks will come as Canelo wears down, gets tired, gets beat up, and gets desperate. Once his punches lose their sting, and the constant pressure forces him into mistakes, that's when GGG can throw the haymakers in between Canelo's weaker shots and then continue the combinations and walk through Canelo once Canelo gets caught or he shells up.

This fight will mean a lot to GGG's mystique. If he plays it ****** like vs Brook and eats a flash knockdown or gives away multiple rounds to Canelo, that will be three fights in a row without shutting his opponent out and completely dominating them every minute of the fight before KOing them, which is what built his mystique in the first place. If he's just going to be a "I outpointed you 7-4 or 8-4" boxer now, I don't think fans will be as interested. Maybe if he can outpoint Kovalev or Beterbiev or Stevenson 8-4, or even some of the guys at 168, that could still be a fulfilling special performance to the viewers, but if he has to go to close decision with Canelo who came up from 154, that will prove prime GGG is gone for good, plus if it's at all close the judges will probably rob him anyway. Neither of those outcomes will please his fans much.

GGG should treat this fight just like the Stevens and Lemieux fights, with a little more body work early if it's open. Should be a great fight.
