Lol as soon as I saw "cult" in the title I knew it was a Cliff article.

Last chance to fire up the cult but could end up being the opposite. I think Rigo's days are numbered. We might see another Gamboa situation with Rigo. Not saying it will be vs Flores but possible.

True story. Arum was so badly butthurt that he used his influence and the weight of his word to nearly destroy the career of one of the best active boxers on the planet.

Rigo is about as boring as every other pure boxer out there. No more no less. Some people won't appreciate pure boxers, some people don't care for lower weight classes, others are more interested in out of the ring antics.

Donaire fight was good bc of nonito's aggressive style...Rigo ...like most Cuban fighters ...see Lara...have that boring amateur non- aggressive style that is sleep inducing. When the live fans r booing every round, u should at least step it up out of embarrassment.

I appreciate Rigondeaux style....not his fault

Rigondeaux is hard to hit and hits hard. Fighters quit and that's not his fault. Donaire didn't give up which made it an entertaining fight. Once they can't hit Rigondeaux and get hurt they go into survival mode. He's the champ they have to bring the fight to him it's not his job to chase the challenger all over the ring while clearly ahead and winning every round. I think so called fans are expecting too much.

As long as he keeps that "champ" mentality wanting fighters to bring the fight to him, he won't grow any. This may sound dumb but think he is too good for his own good, he needs to engage more even if he is winning to make the fight more entertaining.

Look at Loma vs Walters, Loma was clearly ahead but never dropped the pressure/brought the fight to Walters and made it an exciting fight for the fans.

you're a ******ed hipster. You really think Arum gave a crap about Donaire? The dude is about making money. If he thought there was 50 cents to be made with Rigo, he would be praising him all over the place. But unfortunately Rigo is about as exciting as a 2nd coat of paint, and the networks dont want anything to do with him......

Mixture of many things. Someone mentioned that he is as equally boring than other pure boxers, yet Rigo holds a negative stigma which does not apply to those others. Essentially Arum's influence got the industry to turn on Rigo. Cuban fighters don't have a nationalistic fan element which other countries such as Mexico and Puerto Rico do. This makes it hard for promoters to develop them at grassroots. Until Cuba produces the next Pacquiao type fighter, they will not get much support at entry level early in their careers.
