Joshua Buatsi has turned professional and will make his debut next month. The 24-year-old Brit, who has finished his degree since winning his light-heavyweight bronze medal at the Olympic Games, links up with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing. Buatsi will make his bow in the paid code on July 1, exclusively live on Sky Sports, at the O2 Arena in London.

Clearly one of the most talented and marketable fighters out of that British squad. He did get pretty comfortably outboxed in the semi-final though so he'll need a good trainer to add some dimensions to his game. Hopefully the opponent is not a total stiff

I really hope not. Dont think they would match well. But then im a bit biased against Booth who i dont rate that highly

Not sure any top brit trainers are ideal for the style i envisage for him. But a McCracken could be good. He has a proven record for getting his fighters punching hard and setting uo their power intelligently. Outside shout who could be interesting would be Ricky Hatton who i think has done well for the fighters ive seen him train. Especially finding punching angles on the inside. Think him and Hearn arent friends though so probably a no go.

In a perfect world an Abel Sanchez or a Roberto Garcia would give him some solid fundamentals while encouraging his natural aggression and power. Maybe later in his career

Hearn has dropped the ball with 2 of his 3 Olympians so far in terms of opp. But Kelly has been matched well.

Hopefully Buatsi goes straight into 6 rounders because he has been in quite a few WSB bouts already

Yeah I'm wondering why Kelly has been shown so much more faith than the others. Perhaps Booth has something to do with it? I'm not sure he's a stylistic match for Buatsi either but he seems like a guy who can actually stand up to Hearn when necessary
